Keglić Cup is open to all club and school teams worldwide. Players cannot belong to a club from a country in which the player does not reside. Players must be registered with the handball federation or school sports federation of their country.
The tournament begins with a qualifying round. Teams are divided into groups where all teams play against each other. 2 points are awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. After group matches, all teams continue in the playoff — Keglić Cup or Gajnice Cup.
If two or more teams have the same number of points, the ranking is determined by: (1) Points in head-to-head matches, (2) Goal difference in head-to-head matches, (3) Most goals scored in head-to-head matches, (4) Overall goal difference, (5) Goals scored, (6) Drawing of lots.
Playoff: Played as a cup model with direct eliminations. In case of a draw, a golden goal extra time is played. Extra time begins after a coin toss at the centre.
